Ambergris Caye is the largest island of Belize. San Pedro is the largest town in Ambergris Caye and where you’ll find most lodging.
WHERE WE STAYED
- We stayed at Las Terrazas. We had found a deal from JetSetter and ended up in a two bedroom house to ourselves, with a full kitchen – perfect for cooking your own meals! The master bedroom was on the second floor with it’s own terrace overlooking the pool. We traveled on Thanksgiving which may have been why it wasn’t as crowded.
THINGS TO DO
- Visit the cave of Actun Tunichil Muknal (ATM) in Cayo, Belize. We hired a guide for the one day excursion. This involved taking a small 3 seater plane from the tiniest airport I’d ever seen. ATM is not for those with fear of darkness or enclosed spaces. You must go with a guide and if you’ve never been in a cave before, this is a good one to see. Prepare to get wet, squeeze in between rocks, and climb.
